Before placing an order, you might want to know what it will cost to go this route. Typical prices for concentrate are $8 to $14 per quart, $7 to $10 for pints, and $3 to $4 for 4-ounce bottles. Shipping will be expensive—count on an additional 30% to 70%, depending on how much you order and the distance. Depending on these factors, flavoring costs are likely to range from $ to $ per liter. Obviously, at the high end you won't be saving much if any money over SodaStream's flavors, once you add in the cost of sweetener; but if you can buy a few pints or quarts at a time, the total cost (concentrate plus sweetener) will fall in the $-$ range. Most or all of the ingredients will also travel less than the SodaStream bottles, and what does travel will mass less, which all adds up to being better for the environment.
CHICAGO— Primo Water Corporation, is showcasing its new Primo Flavorstation, at the International Home + Housewares Show, here this week.
The new home beverage maker allows consumers to create fresh, 100% naturally flavored beverages at the touch of a button, according to the company. The countertop carbonated beverage appliance is the result of Primo’s 2011 acquisition of certain assets of Omnifrio, assets that included a countertop carbonated beverage appliance and intellectual property related to single-serve cold carbonated beverages and consumable flavor cups, or S-cups, and CO2 canisters used with the appliance to make a variety of cold beverages.
The Primo Flavorstation allows users to customize and create delicious, naturally flavored sodas, fruit sparklers, fruit flavored teas, zero-calorie sodas and energy drinks without high-fructose corn syrup.
The Primo Flavorstation requires no electricity and is powered solely by the Primo Sparkler, which produces sparkling water. According to the company, the Primo Flavorstation helps save money and space in the fridge, as each bottle of Sparkling Beverage Mix makes 24, 12 ounce servings. By purchasing one, 100% recyclable beverage mix bottle, consumers are keeping 24 cans permanently out of landfills, according to the company.
Primo offers more than a dozen different Sparkling Beverage Mixes, ranging from classics like cola and ginger ale to new tastes such as berry pomegranate and energy mixes; fresh combinations can also be created by mixing one, two or more flavors together.
“The Primo Flavorstation proves you can deliver great tasting sodas and sparkling beverages that are better for you and better for the environment,” said Billy Prim, chairman and CEO of Primo Water Corporation. “This one-of-a-kind product helps bring families fun, efficient and healthy ways to enjoy their favorite sparkling beverage. By combining our ultra-pure, great tasting Primo water with the revolutionary Primo Flavorstation, we will change the way people consume beverages for the better.”
